Well - your children were amazing in Pirates versus Merfolk and we saw some future Olympic athletes at our Sports' Day. So much to be proud of!
This week we will be writing our memories of year 2 and finishing off bits of maths and topic, including making baby dragons to complete our Big Arts' Work.
On Thursday we will say goodbye for the summer. We hope you all have a wonderful break and we look forward to seeing you in the Junior building in the autumn. Wow - the end of an era!

We will be doing various bits of catching up next week, dependent on what was missed because of swimming!
We are so looking forward to the play - Pirates versus Merfolk.
Whales and Dolphins' play is at 2:15pm on Tuesday 17th July and
Turtles, Seals and Penguins' play is at 2:15pm on Wednesday 18th July.
We are looking forward to seeing many of you at Sports' Day on Thursday 19th July. It's at 9:15 on the field between the school buildings. If you are able to help, please speak to your child's class teacher. Thank you!
As if all of that isn't excitement enough, the Friday is our Fernwood Festival Day! The children should come in their festival clothes and be ready to sing and dance their way through the day! We have various workshops and activities and the afternoon will see whole school performances with the whole school joining each other on the field.

Wednesday 4th July is our Transition Morning and Year 2 will be going to their Year 3 classes and meeting their new teachers.
Dolphins and Penguins will be swimming on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday this week.

Topic - we are learning some sewing techniques and making purses. Some Big Arts' Work is still being done too!
Saturday 7th July is the Summer Fair. The Year 2 Choir will be singing at 12.30pm
Sunday 8th July is the final day of the Wollaton Arts' Festival and the Year 2 Choir will be singing at 4pm.
As part of the Arts' Festival some of our children's art work is also on display near the playground in Wollaton Park - congratulations to all concerned!

w.c 18th June 2018 BIG ARTS' WEEK
The excitement never stops! This week is Big Arts' Week and we will be using the picture "Saint George and the Dragon" by Paolo Uccello as our stimulus. The original is in the National Gallery should you ever go to London and get the chance to go!
As well as covering ourselves in glue, paint, inks and so on we will also be continuing with our English and Maths.
English - using "Saint George and the Dragon" we will be doing descriptive writing as well as honing our performance skills.
Maths - partitioning numbers.

Welcome back! We hope you had a good break.
Maths - reasoning, problem solving and arithmetic. For the next few weeks we will not be focussing on a single area but rather on the children identifying what operation they need to choose and which strategy they can choose to solve the problem.
English - reading comprehensions and grammar. As with maths we will be looking at a broad area of our English learning.
