Spring 2020

Week beginning 20th January 2020

 

Here is what else we have in store next week:

 

English - we will writing a character description about our very own made up character for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Geography - we will be learning about the different climate zones in South America.

Art - we will be applying our colour work to a mixed media piece of work in the style of Kandinsky using cocoa trees as inspiration.  

RE - we will be looking at the part of a mosque.

Science - we will be recreating the digestive system, get ready to get messy!

 

On Friday, we have the annual pantomine to look forward to! Oh no we don't, oh yes we do! This year is 'Jack and the beanstalk'!

 

 

Remember to read every evening for at least 10 minutes and record it in your organiser. Please bring in your spelling folder on the day of your test.

Week beginning 13th January 2020

Well done for your first week back, we have enjoyed beginning our work on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! 

 

Thursday 16th January is Faith and Culture Day. You can come into school wearing celebration clothes and remember to bring in any food items you have volunteered to bring for food tasting. Yum! We will also be taking part in a drum workshop and learning about other cultures throughout the day.

 

Here is what else we have in store next week:

 

English - we will be writing a persuasive letter to Mr Willy Wonka to try and persuade him to reopen his wonderful chocolate factory!

Geography - we will be learning about the different countries in South America.

Art - we will be learning about the artist Kandinsky and have a go at recreating some of his abstract art.

Science - we will be researching different organs in the digestive system to find out their function.

Week beginning 6th January 2020

Happy New Year!  We hope you have had a fabulous Christmas and new year holiday.  We have lots of exciting things planned for this half term.  We are sure you will be pleased to know that our theme for the Spring Term is 'Chocolate'.  Over the course of the term, we will be finding out where it comes from and how it is made.  Our English lessons will be based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Here is what we have in store for the first week back:

 

English - we will begin reading Chapter 1 of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and use our descriptive techniques to describe Mr Wonka's famous factory.

Geography - we will be finding out where chocolate originates from.

Art - we will be experimenting with colour mixing using paint to create shades and tints.

Science - we will be finding out about the different parts that make up the digestive system and their location in the body.

PSHE – we will be finding out why people may follow a particular diet.

RE - we will be finding out about some of the different ways Christians worship.

French - we will be learning the nouns of breakfast drink items.

ICT - we will start to follow algorithms using computer programming software.

 

Remember to read every evening for at least 10 minutes and record it in your organiser. Please bring in your spelling folder on the day of your test.  The first spelling test will be a baseline test on all the words we will be looking at during Spring 1.

 

Remember to have your PE kit ready for our indoor and outdoor sessions (appropriate for the cold weather).
