Week 3 - Beg 20.2.20

 

History – To be able to identify a significant event involving Nottingham Castle 

Task: Children plan a newspaper article about siege on Nottingham castle  

Skills: I can appreciate that significant events in history have helped shape the country we have today

Science - I can  describe the sun, Earth and moon as approximately spherical bodies.

TASK: Create a model using split pins

SKILLS: Identifying scientific evidence that has been used to support or refute ideas or arguments

French - name the planets and say interesting facts about planets

Art – To create the effect of light and dark

TASK: compare different skills to create light and dark

SKILLS: To look at the effect of light on objectives from different directions  

PE – Swimming (5M and 5CH) Dance (5D AND 5A)

Games – Netball (Apply basic principles suitable for attacking )

ICT – Refine procedures to solve more complex problems

Combine procedures to solve more complex problems

RE- To know about the main Hindu gods.

 

MATHS

 

5CH - A look into factors, primes, composites and prime factors!

5A - This week we are exploring fractions. We will be adding and subtracting fractions that do and do not share denominators.

5D - To find equivalent fractions by multiplying the numerator and denominator by the same amount.
To complete sequences involving fractions.
To compare and order fractions.
To begin to understand mixed numbers and improper fractions

Week 2 - Beg 13.1.20

 

History – L.O. To be able to understand the reasons for the creation of Nottingham Castle

Task: Children design their own castle and annotate reasons for its position

Skills: I can make comparisons between historical periods

Science - can describe the movement of the moon relative to the Earth.

TASK: Practical experiment with 3 balls representing sun, moon and earth. Explanation in books of the task

SKILLS: Reporting and presenting findings from enquiries

Faith and Culture day (16th Jan)

French - name the planets and say interesting facts about planets

Art – To apply the great artist’s skills in my own work

TASK: Design their own background in the style of Peter Thorpe

SKILLS: Explore the use of texture and colour (hue, tint, tone and shades)

PSHE - I know that violence within relationships is not acceptable (Great Project)

L.O. To understand what domestic violence is and the support that’s out there.

Task: Defining and exploring domestic abuse, the impact of domestic abuse on adults and understanding where to find support.

Music – I can identify and investigate clusters and atmosphere (Garage Band)

PE – Swimming (5M and 5CH) Dance (5D AND 5A)

Games – Netball (To control ball using throwing and catching techniques)

ICT – Refine procedures to solve more complex problems; Combine procedures to solve more complex problems

RE- Is it better for a Christian to pray in a church or outside it? BIG QUESTION LESSON

 

Week 2 - Maths

 

5CH - More investigation into fractions including adding, taking, multiplying and dividing!

5A - This week we will be consolidating our understanding of dividing using formal methods and interpreting remainders in different ways

5M - This week we will be dividing using a formal written method and using this when answering worded problems

5D - LO: To multiply 2 digits by 2 digits; LO: To multiply 3 digits by 2 digits; LO: To divide 4 digits by 1 digit

Welcome to Spring! Below you will find a slightly different way of looking at what subjects are coming up for the week... For certain subjects, you will now also find the specific skills that are being learnt whilst completing certain tasks.

Week 1 - wb 6.1.19

 

History – L.O. To be able to order events chronologically.

Task: Create a timeline.

Skills: I can draw a timeline with different time periods outlined which show different information, such as, periods of history and dates

Science - I can describe the movement of the Earth and other planets relative to the sun in the solar system. (Incorporate skills progression objective - Recording data and results of increasing complexity using scientific diagrams and labels, classification keys, tables, scatter graphs, bar and line graphs)

TASK: Create Mnemonic for planets; act out planets rotating round sun and record in books
SKILLS: Taking measurements

PSHE - I know that violence within relationships is not acceptable (Great Project)

L.O. To understand healthy relationships.

Task: Discussions about healthy and unhealthy relationships, piece of creative writing.

French - name the planets and say interesting facts about planets

Art –To copy and recreate a great artist’s work
TASK: To create different tiles with different techniques

SKILLS: Interpreting the texture of a surface; select and use materials

PE – Swimming (5M and 5CH) Dance (5D AND 5A)

Games – Netball (To understand the main rules of netball using running, jumping, throwing and catching)

ICT – Understand sequencing commands

Control and onscreen mimic or simulation with inputs and outputs

RE – To understand where Christians worship.
